About Molly

MEET MOLLY

Molly Marcus, MA, LPC

Hi, I’m Molly Marcus (she/her), and I believe people are capable of change even when things feel messy, overwhelming, or hard to untangle. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you, it’s about understanding what’s happening beneath the surface, building tools that actually help, and creating more room to breathe in your life and relationships.

My approach

My work is deeply shaped by a belief that our struggles don’t exist in isolation. The systems we live within, the identities we hold, the communities we come from, and the experiences we’ve survived all impact our mental health and relationships. Therapy, to me, means making space for the full picture. not just symptoms.

I am committed to creating a space that is affirming of LGBTQIA+ and trans identities, racial and cultural diversity, immigrant experiences, disability justice, women’s and reproductive rights, and people from historically marginalized communities. I know many people come into therapy carrying not only personal pain, but also the exhaustion of navigating systems that have invalidated, harmed, or failed them.

You should not have to defend, minimize, or over-explain who you are in the therapy room. I want this practice to feel like a place where you can show up honestly, be met with respect, and explore your experiences without judgment.

Outside of therapy, I’m an animal lover, lifelong bookworm, and Scorpio. Curiosity, depth, and humanity are things I value both in and outside of my work.

This is a space to free your voice and your choice.

My background

Before becoming a therapist, I started out in the world of criminal justice, graduating from Temple with a degree in Criminal Justice and Women, Sexuality & Gender Studies. I worked at the Montgomery County Public Defender’s Office, where I saw firsthand the ways people’s stories often get reduced to labels. That’s part of what drew me to counseling, a desire to humanize people, to honor their complexity, and to create space for growth and healing.

I went on to earn my master’s in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College, and now my work integrates trauma-informed care, DBT, CBT, and attachment-based approaches.

What my clients say about working with me

Clients often describe me as warm, grounding, and real. I’ll support you fully, but I’ll also gently challenge you. Sometimes we’ll even laugh together, because therapy doesn’t always have to feel heavy. I don’t hide behind a blank slate; I show up as myself.

My style is collaborative and skill-focused, but also deeply attuned to who you are and what you need.

I connect most with people who feel weighed down by life and are ready for things to feel different, even if they’re not sure what that change looks like yet. You don’t need to have all the answers to start; all you need is a willingness to be curious and reflective. Together, we’ll uncover the strength that’s already within you and build tools that make life feel a little lighter, steadier, and more manageable.
